WILLEMSTAD – The Joint Court of Justice is moving toward making interpreters available at every court hearing so participants can speak in their preferred national language.
According to the Court’s Annual Report 2025, a successful pilot project was conducted in Curaçao during the year. Following the pilot, the Court decided to permanently implement the system there and begin rolling it out to other islands.
The initiative allows participants to express themselves in English, Dutch or Papiamentu/Papiamento during proceedings.
The Court says the reform forms part of broader quality improvements aimed at making justice more accessible and inclusive throughout the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
