WILLEMSTAD – The case surrounding the robbery of a police officer in the parking lot of NAPA has taken a new turn, as investigators reveal that the young man who died during the incident was allegedly involved in multiple similar crimes.
According to information now known to the police, the deceased suspect was not unfamiliar with this type of offense. Authorities indicate that he may have previously stolen mobile phones from several individuals using a similar method.
Multiple victims have since filed official complaints. They report being lured to the NAPA parking lot or to a supermarket along Rooseveltweg after arranging to buy or sell a phone. Once the device was shown during the meeting, it was allegedly snatched from their hands, after which the suspect fled on foot in the direction of the Gibraltar area.
In recent days, police have been investigating several comparable reports. Preliminary findings suggest that the same individual may also have been involved in the armed robbery of the owner of a scrap metal company on Heintje Koolweg.
Authorities stress that the investigation remains ongoing and that all possible connections are being carefully examined. At this stage, police have not released further details regarding additional arrests or definitive conclusions.
The case has attracted significant public attention due to the involvement of a police officer and the fatal outcome of the confrontation. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
