WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao will host the international conference "This Is My Story" from October 26 to 30, bringing together experts, government officials, non-governmental organizations and survivors from around the world to discuss strategies for preventing violence against women and children.
The five-day conference will focus on strengthening international cooperation, sharing best practices and developing sustainable solutions to combat gender-based violence, child abuse, sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The program includes keynote presentations, masterclasses and interactive workshops covering topics such as child abuse prevention, sexual violence, trauma recovery and anti-human trafficking efforts. Organizers say the event is designed to encourage collaboration among professionals working in social services, healthcare, law enforcement, education and public policy.
One of the featured speakers will be a survivor of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who will share her personal experience and discuss her advocacy against sexual abuse, harassment and violence.
A central theme of the conference is the role of survivor experiences in shaping effective prevention and recovery strategies. Organizers say these personal testimonies will help inform a more comprehensive approach to addressing violence while also contributing to the development of national policies on domestic violence, child protection and compliance with international human rights conventions.
The conference will feature speakers from Curaçao, Germany, the United States and Colombia, highlighting a broad range of international perspectives and expertise.
Sessions will be held at Dreams Curaçao Resort and the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort.
The event is intended for social workers, psychologists, justice professionals, human resources specialists, coaches, managers, survivor advocates and students pursuing careers in the social sector.
