Integrity Concerns Lead Complaints Filed With Central Bank

Local, | By Correspondent August 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Integrity-related concerns accounted for the largest category of reports received by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) during the second half of 2025, according to the financial regulator’s latest report.

The CBCS received a total of 85 complaints, questions and reports during the six-month period.

More than one-third concerned integrity-related issues, including unclear communication and questions about the conduct of financial institutions.

Banks were the subject of more than half of all reports submitted to the CBCS, making them by far the most frequently mentioned category of financial institution. Trust service providers followed in second place.

However, not all complaints could be formally processed by the regulator.

A significant portion could not be handled because complainants had failed to provide the necessary supporting documentation. In other cases, consumers had approached the CBCS before first submitting their complaint to the financial institution involved.

The figures highlight the importance of consumers following the appropriate complaints procedure and providing sufficient documentation when bringing a matter to the attention of the financial supervisor.

Despite integrity being the most frequently reported concern, the complaints processed by the CBCS have so far not revealed major violations of financial regulations.

The latest figures provide insight into the issues consumers and other parties brought to the regulator’s attention during the second half of 2025 and the areas in which concerns about financial institutions were most frequently raised.
