Inflation in Curaçao Reaches 1.5 Percent in May 2026

Local, Economy, | By Correspondent July 8, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao's inflation rate stood at 1.5 percent in May 2026, according to new data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

The inflation figure is based on the 12-month average of the Consumer Price Index. CBS compares the average CPI over the most recent 12-month period with the average for the same period one year earlier.

In May 2026, the 12-month average CPI stood at 105.2, compared to 103.6 in May 2025. Due to rounding differences, this represents an average price increase of 1.5 percent.

Inflation reflects the decline in purchasing power caused by rising prices for goods and services over time. For that reason, CBS notes that the inflation rate is often used as an indexation tool for wages, pensions, social benefits, minimum wage and other forms of income.

The May figure indicates that the cost of living in Curaçao continues to rise, though at a moderate pace compared to periods of sharper price increases.
