WILLEMSTAD – Inclusion and acceptance were at the heart of a festive fashion show held at Sambil Curaçao on Saturday, marking the closing event of activities surrounding World Down Syndrome Day.

The event, titled Down Right Down Perfect Show, was organized by parent association Totolika and featured individuals with Down syndrome walking the catwalk, celebrating diversity and individuality.

Totolika, an organization made up of parents, family members, and supporters of people with intellectual disabilities, aims to promote equal opportunities and rights. Through the show, participants demonstrated that everyone is unique and valuable just as they are.

World Down Syndrome Day is observed globally on March 21 to raise awareness about the rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. In Curaçao, the occasion was marked by several activities focused on education and acceptance.

A day earlier, a gathering was held at the Children’s Museum Curaçao, where children and families took part in creative and educational activities designed to promote understanding and inclusion.

According to the organizers, the fashion show was a major success. They described the event as filled with joy, culture, and talent, both on the runway and among the audience.

With initiatives like this, Totolika hopes to continue fostering a more inclusive society and encouraging a positive perception of people with Down syndrome across the island.
