IBB Invites The Public to an Evening Where New Work, Artistic Research, and the Close of the School Year Come Together

Local, Entertainment, | By Press release June 9, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, June 18, Instituto Buena Bista (IBB) is hosting a special evening during which both the current Artist in Residence, Frouke ten Velden, and IBB's students will present recent work. The gathering also marks the festive conclusion of the school year and a small farewell to a student who will be continuing her art education in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The exhibition Wind Compositions: An Artistic Research on Day & Night by ten Velden forms the central theme. During her residency here on Curaçao, she explored how wind, light, color, movement, and perception can function as building blocks for new installation work. The exhibition consists of prototypes, experiments, sketches, and material studies that offer visitors a glimpse into her artistic research process.

In addition, the students of Instituto Buena Bista will present a selection of their most recent work. The year-end presentation showcases what the students have been working on over the past year and offers a moment to reflect on their artistic development.

The evening will also mark a special milestone: one of the students has been accepted to an art academy in Utrecht and will be continuing her studies there.

The public is warmly invited to come experience the work of both the resident artist and the students of IBB.

Everyone is welcome!
