Human Rights Defense Curaçao Holds Introductory Meeting with Governor

WILLEMSTAD – Representatives of Human Rights Defense Curaçao held an introductory meeting with the Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort, on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The delegation included Simone de Brabander, director of the organization, and Camillo Bakhuis, its chairman. During the visit, they briefed the Governor on the work and mission of Human Rights Defense Curaçao.

Discussions focused on the organization’s expanded scope, which now includes areas such as children’s rights, as well as the Kingdom’s safeguarding role in protecting human rights.

Also present at the meeting was Peter Benschop, Director of the Cabinet of the Governor of Curaçao.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on human rights issues within the island and the wider Kingdom.
