WILLEMSTAD – Most participants in a Human Rights Defense (HRDC) study do not support mass deportations of undocumented migrants and instead favor a regulated approach.
According to the report, residents generally support a system involving registration, screening and possible legalization under specific conditions.
Participants argued that migration must be managed rather than ignored, because undocumented migrants have become a visible and permanent part of Curaçao’s society.
The research found broad support for balancing economic needs, public safety and human rights.
