Governor of Curaçao pays official visit to 2Bays Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – On Friday, 20 February 2026, His Excellency the Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort, paid an official working visit to 2Bays Curaçao together with his delegation. The company focuses on the development, leasing and transformation of industrial sites within Curaçao’s port areas.

During the visit, the Governor attended a presentation led by Patrick Newton, Chief Executive Officer of 2Bays Curaçao. The presentation outlined the company’s mission and several ongoing and planned projects. These include efforts to strengthen the industrial value of the port areas, support the energy transition and create space for sustainable, logistics and industrial activities within the Industrial Port of Curaçao.

Following the presentation, the Governor received an extensive tour of the 2Bays site in Emmastad and also visited the oil storage facilities in Bullenbaai. There, he was briefed on the operation and future plans for this strategically important infrastructure. 2Bays manages and develops these sites with the aim of attracting new industrial partners, innovative companies and projects focused on sustainable growth.

The Governor and his delegation were informed about the broad scope of 2Bays’ activities, ranging from port and logistics services to support for initiatives that contribute to a sustainable and circular economy in Curaçao. The visit highlighted the importance of cooperation between public representatives and industrial stakeholders in advancing the island’s economic development.

Those present during the visit included Willem Knigge, Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Governor; David de Haseth, Managing Director of Curaçao Refinery Utilities; Patrick Newton, CEO of 2Bays Curaçao; Hans Vissers, Chief Financial Officer of 2Bays Curaçao; Sander Rijsdijk, Chief Development Officer of 2Bays Curaçao; and Richard Arends, consultant to 2Bays Curaçao.
