Governor Meets with Parliamentary Faction Leaders to Discuss Their Constitutional Role

WILLEMSTAD – Governor of Curaçao, His Excellency Mauritsz de Kort, held introductory meetings with the leaders of the parliamentary factions of PAR, MAN/PIN, MFK and PNP on Friday, November 28, and Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

The meetings formed part of the Governor’s effort to become better acquainted with the political leadership represented in the Curaçao Parliament following his appointment.

During the discussions, the faction leaders briefed the Governor on how they fulfill their responsibilities within Curaçao’s constitutional system. They also explained the role they play in advising the Government of Curaçao on political and legislative matters.

The meetings provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the functioning of the country's democratic institutions and the responsibilities of parliamentary factions within Curaçao’s system of government.

The Governor met separately with:

·         Giselle McWilliam, leader of the MAN/PIN parliamentary faction.

·         David Severina, leader of the MFK parliamentary faction.

·         Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, leader of the PNP parliamentary faction.

·         Quincy Girigorie, leader of the PAR parliamentary faction.

The introductory meetings are part of the Governor’s ongoing engagement with key institutions and political stakeholders in Curaçao.
