WILLEMSTAD – Governor of Curaçao Mauritsz de Kort welcomed the Pariba Little League team to the Governor’s Palace following their historic victory at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport.
The Governor congratulated the young players on becoming world champions and expressed his appreciation for the team, its coach and representatives of Liga P’ariba for their achievement and the way they represented Curaçao internationally.
“You have not only put Curaçao’s name on the world map once again. You have also shown the youth of Curaçao what can be achieved through perseverance, discipline, teamwork and believing in yourself,” De Kort told the players.
Following the official reception, the players were treated to fruit and refreshments in the Palace garden.
The team also had the opportunity to take photographs with employees of the Governor’s Cabinet and with government ministers who were at the Palace at the time for consultations with the Governor.
De Kort praised Pariba Little League for representing Curaçao on the international stage and wished the players, coaches and Liga P’ariba continued success in their future development.
The Palace reception is one of several celebrations organized in Curaçao following the team’s historic World Series championship in Williamsport.
