WILLEMSTAD – The Receiver’s Office of Curaçao has warned that it is illegal to reproduce or forge the official license plates for the year 2026.
According to the government announcement, the Receiver’s Office holds all copyright-related rights to the design of the 2026 license plates and is therefore the only authority authorized to produce and distribute them.
The government stressed that copying, selling or circulating duplicate license plates without prior authorization from the Receiver’s Office is a criminal offense and may result in legal action.
Authorities emphasized that only license plates officially issued by the Receiver’s Office are permitted to be mounted on vehicles.
The newly issued plates include specific security features designed to improve enforcement and enhance the identification of vehicles on the road.
The measure has been introduced to protect the integrity of Curaçao’s vehicle registration system and to prevent the misuse of counterfeit license plates.
