WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (OWCS) has presented an overview of its ongoing education reform program, outlining an ambitious strategy to modernize Curaçao's education system and better prepare students for the future.
Education Minister Sithree van Heydoorn said the government's vision is to ensure that every child has access to high-quality education that provides equal opportunities to develop their talents while preparing them for the challenges of the 21st century. The ministry also aims to educate responsible and engaged citizens who contribute positively to society.
The reform program, known as Mehorashon di Enseñansa, is built around five key objectives: providing equal opportunities for every child, improving the connection between education and Curaçao's future needs, strengthening links between education and the labor market, ensuring better student progression throughout the education system, and establishing minimum quality standards for every school.
To achieve those goals, the ministry is focusing on six major areas: digitalization, the education system and curriculum, school quality, teacher professional development, alignment with the labor market, and school infrastructure.
