WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has taken note of two reports related to the carrying capacity of Curaçao’s tourism sector. The documents were presented by the Minister of Economic Development and focus on the island’s ability to manage future tourism growth in a sustainable manner.
The reports are titled “Tourism Carrying Capacity Study. Executive Summary” and “Executive Summary of the Carrying Capacity Session: What the Co-Creators Told Us.”
According to the government, the studies provide insights into the impact of tourism development and the perspectives of stakeholders involved in discussions about the future direction of the sector.
The review of tourism carrying capacity has become increasingly important as Curaçao continues to experience growth in visitor arrivals and seeks to balance economic benefits with the preservation of infrastructure, the environment and the quality of life of residents.
The Council of Ministers reviewed the documents as part of the broader policy discussions regarding the future development of tourism on the island.
The government did not announce specific measures following the presentation but indicated that the reports will contribute to the ongoing decision-making process regarding sustainable tourism development.
