WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Council of Ministers has ordered ministries to provide quarterly updates on how the government is complying with rulings issued by the civil service court, following an investigation by the Ombudsman of Curaçao.
The Cabinet discussed the Ombudsman’s report during its meeting on Wednesday, September 23. The report examines the manner in which the government implements decisions of the court in cases involving civil servants.
The Council of Ministers took note of the findings and decided that instructions will be issued to the Secretaries-General of the ministries.
Under the decision, ministries will be required to report every quarter to the Council of Ministers on the status of the implementation of relevant court rulings.
The measure introduces regular Cabinet-level monitoring of how ministries follow up on decisions involving government employees.
The government announcement does not provide details about the Ombudsman’s individual findings, the number of court decisions examined or whether specific ministries were found to have failed to implement judgments.
The Cabinet decision nevertheless indicates that the issue will now be monitored systematically, with the highest-ranking civil servants within the ministries expected to account periodically for progress.
The matter falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Governance, Planning and Service (BPD).
