Government Moves to Complete Liquidation of Woningbouw Curaçao N.V.

Local, | By Correspondent August 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has approved further steps toward completing the liquidation of Woningbouw Curaçao N.V., moving the government closer to formally winding up the public housing company.

The Council agreed on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to continue and complete the liquidation process and approved a plan for the company’s phased dissolution, together with the accompanying Terms of Reference.

Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning Minister Charles Cooper has been instructed to prepare the necessary steps for the process.

These include preparing the required shareholder resolutions and decisions necessary for the formal dissolution of Woningbouw Curaçao N.V. The minister must ensure that the process complies with applicable laws and regulations.

The decision does not yet represent the final dissolution of the company.

According to the government, the definitive dissolution decision will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval at a later stage.

The handling of Woningbouw Curaçao’s housing portfolio will also require a separate decision by the Council.

The latest resolution therefore allows the government to continue preparations and execute the winding-down process in stages while the remaining legal, administrative and housing-related matters are addressed.

The government did not provide a timetable for completing the liquidation or details on how the company’s remaining housing portfolio will ultimately be handled.
