WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government says it has already invested more than NAf 2.5 million to tackle heat problems in schools as part of a broader plan to improve school infrastructure and learning conditions.
According to the Ministry of Education, a special commission established in 2023 developed a structural approach to addressing excessive heat in classrooms. The initiative aims to create sustainable climate control systems while keeping energy costs manageable for schools.
In the short term, more than NAf 2.5 million has been invested in climate control measures within schools. Over the longer term, the government plans to implement a multi-year investment program to strengthen electrical infrastructure, install air-conditioning systems and expand the use of solar panels at educational institutions.
