Government Extends Diesel Subsidy for Bus Operators and School Transportation Services

Local, Politics, | By Correspondent August 4, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government has extended its diesel subsidy program for public bus operators and school transportation providers for up to three more months, continuing support for sectors affected by higher operating costs.

The decision was approved by the Pisas III Cabinet as part of a broader package of temporary support measures announced this week.

According to the government, the subsidy will continue to be administered through ABC Busbedrijf, which will coordinate the assistance for eligible operators.

Officials said the extension is intended to help public transportation providers continue offering reliable services while easing the financial burden of fuel expenses.

The government emphasized that school transportation providers play an essential role in the community by ensuring students have safe and dependable transportation to and from school.

Together with the extension of the ANG 100 monthly support payment for pensioners and welfare recipients, the diesel subsidy forms part of the government's ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable groups and maintain essential public services during a period of continued economic pressure.
