WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has approved the creation of a special coordination group that will oversee the government's long-term housing and accommodation strategy for public institutions.
According to decisions taken during the June 3 Cabinet meeting, ministers approved a draft national decree establishing the Government of Curaçao Housing Coordination Group for a period of four years.
The decree will now be forwarded to the Governor for signature.
The new body is expected to coordinate efforts related to the accommodation and housing needs of government departments and agencies, an issue that has become increasingly important as the government seeks to improve efficiency and optimize the use of public buildings.
While details regarding the group's membership and specific responsibilities have not yet been released, the initiative suggests that the government is preparing for a broader review of how ministries and public services are housed.
Government accommodation has been a recurring topic in Curaçao due to aging office infrastructure, maintenance requirements, and efforts to centralize services.
The creation of a dedicated coordination group indicates that the government intends to take a more structured approach to planning future office and facility needs across the public sector.
