WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has approved several proposals related to economic development, urban planning and cooperation with local organizations.
One of the decisions concerns a draft national ordinance to revise zoning regulations for Koraal Tabak. The proposal would amend Curaçao’s Island Development Plan (Eilandelijk Ontwikkelingsplan Curaçao).
The Council approved sending the draft ordinance and accompanying explanatory report to the Social Economic Council (SER) for advice. The SER will provide its assessment before further legislative steps are taken.
The government also approved a cooperation agreement for 2026–2029 with the Federashon Kooperativanan Uní di Produkshon (FKUP).
The Minister of Economic Development has been authorized to sign the cooperation agreement on behalf of the public legal entity of Curaçao. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration with production cooperatives.
In addition, the Council of Ministers approved the contents of the document “Roadmap Ontwikkeling Implementatieplan. Opstartfase Visiekader Binnenstad 2026-2035.”
The roadmap was submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning.
The document forms part of the initial phase of developing a vision framework for the Willemstad inner city for the period 2026–2035.
The initiative focuses on establishing a long-term approach for the development and future management of the historic city center, including economic activity, urban planning and public space.
The government said the approved proposals are part of ongoing efforts to support economic development and improve planning for Curaçao’s future growth.
