Fundashon Julianadorp Continues its Proceedings Against the Parkweg Building Permit

Local, | By Press release October 14, 2026

WILLEMSTAD - On 30 September 2026, the Court of First Instance of Curaçao gave rulings in two separate proceedings concerning the housing project on the Parkweg in Julianadorp. Fundashon Julianadorp and residents of the neighbourhood are continuing their proceedings.

In the first proceeding, Fundashon Julianadorp and residents had asked the Court to suspend the building permit for 25 houses on an interim basis. The Court rejected that request. This is a provisional ruling, not a decision on the objection against the permit itself. The Court left open whether the plot lies in a water catchment area.

The second proceeding concerned the infrastructure decision: the requirements the Minister set for the roads, verges and drainage on the building plot. The Court found that this decision is of general scope and therefore declared that it has no jurisdiction to review it. This ruling says nothing about the water catchment area. It has been published on rechtspraak.nl (ECLI:NL:OGEAC:2026:183).

The objection against the building permit itself, filed by Fundashon Julianadorp and residents in April 2026, is still pending. The Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning has not yet decided on it. The board of Fundashon Julianadorp has decided to continue the proceedings.

“Fundashon Julianadorp is not against development,” says the chairman. “We ask that building respects the neighbourhood’s subdivision plan, and that the places that catch our rainwater stay open.”
