WILLEMSTAD – Instituto Buena Bista and Amarte Fonds have announced the four selected projects for the open call “Dream Fusion,” launching a new arts initiative on Curaçao that connects artists with organizations in the education and healthcare sectors.
The open call was launched earlier this year and invited artists and visual creators on Curaçao to develop socially oriented projects together with schools, care institutions and community organizations.
Four projects have now been selected to receive funding and professional support for implementation.
The selected projects are:
“Atrobeu” by Elvis López Romero in collaboration with Kolegio Alejandro Paula;
“Lus di Kas” by Saskia Lucke in collaboration with Kas di Kuido Bethesda;
“Roots di Futuro” by Naomi Martina together with youth organization Sentro Hubenil;
“Nos Bida den Koló” by collective Studio Kòrsou in cooperation with several neighborhood schools.
Each project will receive a budget of 20,000 guilders. According to the organizers, 8,000 guilders are intended as an artist fee, while the remaining 12,000 guilders will be used for production costs and sustainable materials.
In addition to financial support, participating artists will receive guidance from Instituto Buena Bista in areas including project development, education, marketing and network building.
According to IBB and the Amarte Fonds, Dream Fusion aims to strengthen the connection between art and social issues. Through the program, artists work together with partners from healthcare and education to explore challenges, themes and community needs within those sectors and translate them into new artistic projects.
Instituto Buena Bista was founded in 2006 by artists Tirzo Martha and David Bade and has since grown into one of Curaçao’s leading centers for contemporary art and arts education.
