WILLEMSTAD – A firearm was seized on Tuesday during a targeted control operation along the Sta. Rosaweg. The action was carried out by a multidisciplinary team in cooperation with the Unit Speciale Taken (UST).
During the operation, officers encountered a man on the premises of a business. A search conducted by UST personnel led to the discovery of a firearm, which was immediately confiscated. The suspect, a 59-year-old man from Aruba, was arrested on suspicion of violating Curaçao’s firearms legislation.
The man was subsequently brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his provisional detention pending further investigation.
Police authorities stated that targeted controls form part of a broader strategy to combat illegal firearm possession and other criminal activities. Such operations, they noted, are aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing serious offenses.
