Final Opportunity for Welfare Recipients to Collect New Bank Cards

Local, | By Press release March 27, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) has announced a final opportunity for welfare recipients to collect their new bank cards following the government’s transition to a new banking provider.

Between March 11 and 20, SOAW distributed new Banco di Caribe cards to beneficiaries. The process was largely successful, with 82 percent of clients receiving their cards at Sambil last week. These cards are required to continue receiving welfare payments, which will be issued through Banco di Caribe starting April 2, 2026.

For those who have not yet collected their cards, SOAW is offering a last chance to do so at designated community centers.

On Monday, March 30, distribution will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kas di Bario Brievengat, serving residents from Punda, Banda Ariba, and Brievengat.

On Tuesday, March 31, distribution will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kas di Bario Sta. Maria, for residents of Santa Maria, Otrobanda, and Banda Bou.

Authorities emphasize that this is the final opportunity to collect the Banco di Caribe card in order to continue receiving welfare payments as of April 2.

Recipients must present a valid form of identification, such as a sedula, driver’s license, or passport. Married individuals are required to bring their marriage booklet. Those collecting a card on behalf of someone else must present an authorization letter issued by SOAW, along with valid identification for both the authorized person and the beneficiary.

Individuals unable to attend are advised to contact their respective community centers for further assistance.
