Final Month to Register for Curaçao’s Rib’e Lugá Legalization Program

Local, | By Correspondent October 2, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The registration period for Curaçao’s Rib’e Lugá legalization program is entering its final month. Undocumented residents who qualify for the program have until Saturday, October 31, 2026, to register and begin the process of regularizing their legal status on the island.

The Rib’e Lugá program began on May 1, 2026, initially with a three-month registration period that was scheduled to end in late July.

However, due to strong interest from the community and to give more people an opportunity to regularize their status, the government extended the registration period by another three months.

The extension was considered necessary in part because some applicants were still waiting for important documents required to complete their registration. The additional time allowed them to obtain the necessary documentation and submit their applications.

With the program now entering its final month, the government is urging eligible residents who have not yet registered to take action before the October 31 deadline.

People who were already present in Curaçao before November 13, 2025, may qualify for Rib’e Lugá, provided they also meet the other applicable requirements.

To make the process more accessible during the final weeks, registration will be possible every upcoming Saturday at the Admission Service office in Punda, with the exception of Saturday, October 10.

The additional Saturday registration days are intended to provide assistance to people who still need to complete the process before the deadline.

Rib’e Lugá was introduced as a temporary opportunity for qualifying undocumented residents to regularize their legal status and establish a more secure and stable future in Curaçao.

The government is emphasizing that October 31 is the final registration date and is advising potential applicants not to wait until the last moment.
