WILLEMSTAD – The number of people actively searching for employment in Curaçao dropped significantly in 2025, according to the latest Labour Force Survey from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
CBS recorded 3,828 active job seekers in 2025, compared with 6,094 in 2024. This represents a decrease of 2,266 people.
The decline contributed to a reduction in the unemployment rate, which fell from 7.8 percent to 5.1 percent.
However, CBS emphasized that unemployment figures must be interpreted within the broader labour market context. A person is only classified as unemployed under international standards when they are actively looking for work and are available to start within two weeks.
The survey also showed that the total labour force declined during the same period. The number of people participating in the labour market decreased from 78,013 to 74,807.
According to CBS, the figures provide important information about the supply side of Curaçao’s labour market and help identify developments affecting employment, participation and economic activity.
