FDDK secures new four-year labor agreement after year-long talks with union

WILLEMSTAD – After nearly a year of negotiations, the Curaçao Sports Development (FDDK) has signed a new collective labor agreement, marking what the organization calls an important milestone for its employees and its long-term institutional stability.

The new Collective Labor Agreement (CAO), officially signed on May 5, will remain in force for four years and sets the framework for labor conditions, rights and responsibilities between the organization and its workforce.

According to FDDK management and its Supervisory Board, the agreement reflects the foundation’s commitment to fair treatment of all employees and balanced organizational growth.

The organization says the new labor agreement is part of its broader strategy to build a sustainable future for both its staff and the institution itself.

The CAO was formally signed by Hassnah Elhage and Aichel Magdalena on behalf of the FDDK Supervisory Board, following an extensive negotiation process with the ABVO union.

The discussions between management and the union lasted almost twelve months before both sides reached an agreement.

FDDK expressed appreciation for the cooperation of ABVO and thanked all members of the negotiating team for their efforts in reaching what it described as a positive outcome.

The organization also congratulated its employees, saying the new agreement provides greater certainty and stability for the coming years.

The signing comes at a time when labor relations and collective agreements remain an important issue across Curaçao, with many sectors negotiating improved working conditions amid rising living costs and economic pressure.

For FDDK, the agreement represents not only labor stability but also a signal of institutional continuity as it continues its work in the development and promotion of sports on the island.
