FBI and U.S. Consulate Support Curaçao Police Officers Assigned to FIFA World Cup Security Mission

Local, United States, | By Correspondent June 9, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Two officers from the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) have traveled to the United States to assist with security operations during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with support from the U.S. government and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Police officers Liane Kramers and Rayvon Raphaela recently departed for West Virginia as part of the international security coordination effort surrounding the world's largest football tournament.

According to KPC, every country participating in the FIFA World Cup is required to designate two police representatives to work alongside host-country authorities and FIFA security officials. Their role is to facilitate communication, support security operations involving their national team and supporters, and help ensure the safety of players, staff and fans throughout the tournament.

Additional information obtained by Curaçao Chronicle indicates that the U.S. Consulate's Regional Security Officer worked together with the FBI to identify the two KPC officers selected for the mission. The U.S. Consulate also coordinated the officers' travel arrangements, while the FBI is funding their stay in the United States as part of a White House Task Force initiative focused on international security cooperation.

The two Curaçao officers will work closely with U.S. law enforcement agencies and FIFA officials in the coming weeks. They will also serve as a direct point of contact for matters involving Curaçao's national football team, the Blue Wave, and the thousands of supporters expected to travel to the United States for the country's historic World Cup debut.

As part of their assignment, Kramers and Raphaela will be stationed at FIFA's Command Center during Curaçao's matches. Their responsibilities include assisting with information sharing, security coordination and communication between local authorities and Curaçao's delegation.

The deployment will also provide both officers with valuable experience in managing security operations at one of the world's largest sporting events and expose them to international best practices in event security and public safety.

Commissioner Bryan, a member of the KPC management team, wished both officers success before their departure and thanked them for representing Curaçao during such an important international assignment.

The mission comes as excitement continues to build across the island ahead of Curaçao's first-ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup. Beyond supporting the national team and its supporters, the deployment also highlights the growing cooperation between Curaçao, the United States and international law enforcement partners on matters of security and public safety.
