Favela Street Launches New Season to Support Youth Development on Curaçao

Local, Entertainment, | By Correspondent April 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The youth development program Favela Street has launched a new season on Curaçao, selecting 40 students from six secondary schools across the island to participate in its fourth year.

The program, which focuses on personal development, confidence, mindset, and resilience, uses street football as a tool to engage young people. According to organizers, the sport is not the end goal but a means to connect participants and challenge them in a constructive way.

The initiative runs for approximately one and a half years, during which participants are guided through workshops and activities designed to track and support their development. A monitoring system is used to measure progress, with the aim of fostering not only individual growth but also a positive impact within their communities.

Workshops are held at YouMeet Curaçao in the Scharloo district, where participants take part in structured sessions and group activities.

As part of the program, former Miss Curaçao Akisha Albert is scheduled to join the sessions, sharing her personal experiences and engaging directly with the participants alongside her MBA Models initiative.

The program continues to expand its reach, aiming to empower young people with the skills and mindset needed to navigate challenges and contribute positively to society.
