WILLEMSTAD – Education union DOEN is celebrating its sixth anniversary this month by announcing a new office location and the upcoming launch of two new projects aimed at supporting educators and strengthening its role within Curaçao’s education sector.
According to the union, details of the initiatives will be officially unveiled later this month as part of its anniversary activities.
DOEN said the organization has grown significantly since its founding six years ago and has developed into an active and dynamic representative body for employees in the education sector. The union's leadership described the past six years as a period of growth, consolidation and increased influence within the local educational community.
New Office for Growing Organization
As part of its expansion, DOEN has relocated to a new office. While the union confirmed that the move has already taken place, it has not yet disclosed the location of the new premises. An official opening ceremony is expected to be announced at a later date.
The new office is seen as a reflection of the organization's continued development and its efforts to enhance services for members.
Two New Projects in Development
DOEN also revealed that it is working on two new initiatives. One of the projects will be exclusively available to union members, while the second is intended to benefit education workers more broadly.
The union has not yet released details regarding the nature of the projects, their objectives, or how they will be implemented. More information is expected during the official presentation later this month.
Inspiration from Curaçao’s World Cup Journey
In its anniversary message, DOEN also expressed support for Curaçao’s national football team as it prepares for its historic participation in the FIFA World Cup.
According to the union, the country's qualification for the tournament demonstrates that even a small nation can achieve extraordinary goals through commitment, perseverance and consistency.
The union said the achievement serves as an example not only for athletes but also for educators and students striving to reach ambitious objectives.
Awaiting Further Details
While the announcements signal continued expansion for the organization, several questions remain unanswered. DOEN has not disclosed its current membership numbers, the location of its new office, or the specific focus of the two upcoming projects.
As a result, it remains unclear what direct impact the planned initiatives will have on teachers and other education professionals across Curaçao.
The union has indicated that additional details will be released during the official anniversary celebrations later this month.
