WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Sithree van Heydoorn has joined the Green Wave initiative as Curaçao Clean Up continues efforts to encourage young people to take greater responsibility for keeping the island clean.
The board of Curaçao Clean Up (CCU) visited the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (OWCS) on Tuesday to present its educational program “Di Shushi Pa Dushi,” which focuses on environmental awareness among teenagers.
The teaching materials are designed for young people between the ages of 13 and 16 and address the importance of maintaining a clean environment, recycling and the practical steps individuals can take to reduce waste and help keep Curaçao clean.
During the meeting, representatives of Curaçao Clean Up explained the program and its objectives to Van Heydoorn and his advisers. The organization hopes the educational materials will help young people understand that they can play an active role in addressing litter and other environmental challenges on the island.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Curaçao Clean Up to present Van Heydoorn with a Green Wave shirt, symbolizing his support for the initiative.
Curaçao Clean Up thanked the minister and his advisers for making time for the presentation and for supporting the “Di Shushi Pa Dushi” educational program.
The organization has been promoting greater environmental responsibility on Curaçao through cleanup activities, awareness campaigns and educational initiatives aimed at changing attitudes toward waste and littering.
