WILLEMSTAD – President of the Curaçao Parliament Fergino Brownbill received a courtesy visit from Edwin Bleichrodt, Prosecutor General at the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Bleichrodt was accompanied by Sigmar Carmelia, the newly appointed President of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.

During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on the importance of maintaining an ongoing dialogue between the independent institutions that form part of the separation of powers, commonly referred to as the Trias Politica.
The discussions emphasized that while the legislative and judicial branches operate independently, both carry responsibilities that contribute to the effective functioning of the democratic system.
The visit provided an opportunity to reinforce institutional relations and mutual understanding while respecting the constitutional independence of the respective branches of government.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Brownbill presented Bleichrodt with a symbolic gift to commemorate his first official visit to the Curaçao Parliament.
