ORANJESTAD – Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten has held talks with Aruban Prime Minister Mike Eman during his official visit to Aruba, with discussions focusing heavily on the geopolitical situation surrounding Venezuela and its economic impact on the Caribbean region.
In a public message following the meeting, Jetten thanked Eman for what he described as a warm and highly hospitable reception on Aruba.

According to the Dutch prime minister, both leaders discussed the consequences of regional geopolitical tensions, particularly the effects of developments in Venezuela on Aruba’s economy and society.
Jetten noted that Aruba remains heavily dependent on imports, making the island especially vulnerable to rising global prices and international economic instability.
The discussions also focused on Aruba’s plans to diversify its economy and strengthen the social well-being of the population.
According to Jetten, areas such as education, housing, healthcare, and sustainability remain high priorities within Aruba’s development agenda.
The Dutch prime minister additionally met with Aruba’s Council of Ministers to discuss future cooperation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Jetten emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise among the countries of the Kingdom, stating that stronger cooperation can help address regional and global challenges more effectively.
The visit forms part of broader diplomatic consultations between the Netherlands and the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty in the region and continuing concerns about energy security, economic resilience, and regional stability.
