THE HAGUE – The Dutch government is considering the possibility of organizing a Kingdom conference to address long-standing issues in relations between the Netherlands and its Caribbean partners.
Prime Minister Rob Jetten indicated during a Senate debate that discussions with Caribbean leaders are already underway and will continue in the coming months.
The proposal follows a call by Paul Rosenmöller to organize a conference aimed at reaching concrete agreements on the future of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Jetten said the cabinet plans to develop a joint response with Caribbean countries to a recent advisory report by the Council of State and will explore ways to strengthen cooperation structures, including the potential for a Kingdom conference.
