WILLEMSTAD – Visitors from the Netherlands and the United States continue to fuel Curaçao's tourism expansion, accounting for more than 60 percent of all stayover arrivals in May 2026.

New figures from the Curaçao Tourist Board show that the island received 65,144 stayover visitors during the month, with the Netherlands and the United States together contributing nearly 39,400 travelers.

The Netherlands remained Curaçao's largest tourism market with 20,672 visitors, representing 33 percent of total arrivals. Dutch tourists also recorded the longest average stay at 11.3 nights and showed a strong preference for vacation rentals, apartments, and other non-resort accommodations.

The United States followed closely with 18,658 visitors, accounting for 29 percent of all stayover arrivals. Unlike Dutch travelers, Americans overwhelmingly preferred resort hotels, with two-thirds choosing resort properties during their stay.

Meanwhile, Colombia continued its rapid growth as an emerging source market. Visitor arrivals from Colombia rose 14 percent year-over-year to 4,523 travelers, making it one of Curaçao's strongest-performing markets.

The figures highlight the importance of air connectivity and targeted marketing efforts in both Europe and the Americas. Together, the three countries generated nearly 44,000 visitors during May alone.

Tourism officials have increasingly focused on diversifying source markets while maintaining strong relationships with traditional markets such as the Netherlands and the United States.

The continued growth from Colombia also reflects the increasing importance of Latin America to Curaçao's tourism strategy and demonstrates the benefits of improved regional air connections.
