WILLEMSTAD – Teachers' union DOEN has thanked its members and fellow labor unions for their strong show of support during Monday's court hearing in its ongoing legal dispute with the Curaçao government over teachers' salary step increases.
According to the union, the courtroom was filled with supporters despite the current vacation period. So many members attended that additional chairs had to be brought into the courtroom to accommodate everyone present.
DOEN also expressed gratitude to representatives of other trade unions who attended the hearing in solidarity, describing their presence as an important demonstration of support in the union's legal fight against the government.
The union additionally thanked local media for covering the court proceedings.
Although the hearing has concluded, DOEN emphasized that the legal battle is far from over.
"The fight is not over. DOEN will continue until the very end," the union said in its statement.
The case now moves into the next phase, with both parties scheduled to submit additional legal arguments before the court delivers its final decision later this year.
