WILLEMSTAD – Local airline Divi Divi Air N.V. will celebrate its 25th anniversary on August 22, 2026, with a large-scale Open Day focused on the youth and the Curaçao community.

Under the theme “25 years of connecting our islands and its people,” the airline wants to mark the milestone by giving residents a unique look behind the scenes of the aviation industry and highlighting the many career opportunities within the sector.

Divi Divi Air, which was founded in 2000, has connected the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao for 25 years. According to Managing Director Germaine Richie-Durand, the anniversary celebration is an opportunity to give something back to the community.

“The aviation industry is much bigger than just airplanes, the cockpit or the hangar,” Richie-Durand said. “Many companies and organizations play an essential role in keeping the sector running and together they make an important contribution to the economy of Curaçao.”

Through the Open Day, the airline hopes to inspire young people by introducing them to the different professions and opportunities within aviation.

Behind-the-scenes experience

During the event, visitors will receive an exclusive tour of the Divi Divi Air hangar and learn more about the airline’s daily operations.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit Goddard Catering, the company responsible for providing catering services to commercial airlines operating from Curaçao International Airport. The Aero Club will also open its doors, while Bronswinkel, founder and director of Museo Aeronautiko Curaçao, will share knowledge about the history of aviation on the islands.

Several key organizations from the aviation sector will participate to inform young people about future career possibilities. These include the airport fire department, airport first aid services and Antilles Aerospace, Curaçao’s aircraft maintenance company.

Flight competition for young residents

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Divi Divi Air is organizing a special competition for young Curaçao residents between the ages of 6 and 16 who have never had the opportunity to fly.

The winner will receive an unforgettable sightseeing flight over Curaçao.

Young participants can enter by creatively explaining what aviation means to them and why they should win the experience. Submissions can be in the form of a short video, drawing, poem or another creative expression.

Entries can be submitted until August 13, 2026, by email at reservations@flydivi.com or via WhatsApp at +5999 5631913.

Free event with registration required

The Open Day will take place on August 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, although advance registration is required due to security regulations at the airport grounds.

The celebration will conclude from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with live performances by Icons and Semi Marten, music from DJs Luna and Ray, and hosting by MC Monti. Organizers also promise a special surprise act.

Visitors must register in advance through the official registration platform.

Due to safety regulations, visitors are not allowed to arrive with their own vehicles at the event location. Parking will be available at Capital Ç (Curaçao Airport Dome), where shuttle buses will continuously transport visitors to and from the event area.

Divi Divi Air says the anniversary celebration is intended not only to celebrate the airline’s history but also to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals on Curaçao.
