Dean Gorré Steps Down as Technical Director to Focus on National Team Role

Local, International, | By Correspondent April 14, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Dean Gorré has stepped down as technical director of the Curaçao Football Federation to fully concentrate on his role as assistant coach of the national team.

Gorré had held a dual position since 2022, combining responsibilities as technical director with his role as assistant to head coach Fred Rutten. According to Gorré, the combination of both roles has become increasingly difficult to manage.

He has now chosen to focus entirely on the national squad and the development of players within the team, particularly as Curaçao prepares for a demanding international schedule, including participation in the upcoming World Cup.

Despite stepping down as technical director, Gorré will remain part of the technical staff, continuing to serve as Rutten’s right-hand man. Rutten retains overall responsibility for the team.

Gorré succeeded Guus Hiddink as technical director in 2022 and has since played a key role in shaping the technical structure of Curaçao’s national football programs.

Following his departure from the position, Gersley Gijsbertha has been appointed as the new technical director, marking a transition in leadership while maintaining continuity within the federation.

The move is seen as part of efforts to strengthen focus within the national team setup as Curaçao enters a critical phase on the international stage.
