DC-ANSP Plans Remote Control Tower for Curaçao to Modernize Air Traffic Management

WILLEMSTAD – Air navigation service provider DC-ANSP has announced plans to introduce a remote control tower on Curaçao in the near future, marking a significant step in the modernization of the island’s aviation infrastructure.

The announcement was made by Managing Director Micilia Albertus-Verboom during the organization’s 20th anniversary celebration, where officials also reflected on two decades of air traffic management development in the Dutch Caribbean.

A remote control tower allows air traffic to be monitored and managed using cameras and advanced digital systems, rather than relying solely on a traditional physical control tower. According to DC-ANSP, the system is expected to enhance safety, efficiency, and operational continuity.

The project forms part of broader efforts to keep pace with ongoing developments in the aviation sector. Albertus-Verboom noted that technological innovation is essential to meet increasing demands and maintain high standards in air traffic services.

In the longer term, DC-ANSP also plans to extend the implementation of remote tower technology to Bonaire, further strengthening regional air traffic management.

The announcement comes as DC-ANSP marks its 20-year milestone, highlighting earlier advancements such as the introduction of radar systems and the continued development of air traffic control services on the island.

The planned remote tower is expected to reinforce Curaçao’s position as a regional aviation hub, while supporting safer and more efficient airspace operations.
