CUSAR Rescue Team Returns to Curaçao After Completing Humanitarian Mission in Venezuela

Local, The Netherlands, | By Correspondent July 8, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Members of the Caribbean Urban Search and Rescue (CUSAR) Foundation have returned to Curaçao after completing their humanitarian mission in Venezuela, where they assisted search-and-rescue operations following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country on June 24.

The team arrived back on the island after spending several days supporting emergency response efforts in the earthquake-affected areas. During the mission, CUSAR worked alongside local authorities and international rescue teams to help locate survivors, provide emergency assistance and support recovery operations.

CUSAR was among several organizations from Curaçao that responded to the disaster, reflecting the island's commitment to assisting neighboring Venezuela during one of its most challenging humanitarian crises in recent years.

The deployment formed part of a broader international relief effort that included rescue teams, military personnel and humanitarian organizations from several countries. The Netherlands also contributed through its Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, while military assets from the Dutch Caribbean and the United States helped transport personnel, equipment and humanitarian supplies to the affected regions.

Throughout the mission, CUSAR rescuers worked under demanding conditions, contributing their expertise in urban search and rescue operations as emergency crews searched damaged buildings and assisted affected communities.

The team's safe return marks the conclusion of Curaçao's direct rescue deployment, although humanitarian assistance to Venezuela continues through ongoing relief and recovery initiatives coordinated by local and international partners.
