WILLEMSTAD – Representatives of CuraPlus Sexual Health Foundation met with Mauritsz de Kort on May 11 to discuss sexual health awareness, HIV prevention, and public health challenges facing Curaçao.
The delegation included Dudley Raimundo Ferdinandus-Tavera Salazar, Executive Director and HIV Counselor of CuraPlus, along with Martinus Antonius “Mario” Kleinmoedig, Public Relations Officer and Advisor of the foundation.

During the meeting at the Governor’s office, CuraPlus presented information about its projects and ongoing work within the community.
The organization focuses on supporting people living with HIV/AIDS while also promoting high-quality and innovative healthcare services. CuraPlus is additionally involved in public education on prevention, treatment, counseling, and aftercare related to sexual health and HIV awareness.
According to information shared during the visit, the foundation emphasized the broader social importance of its work beyond medical support alone.
CuraPlus stated that increasing awareness about sexual health, reducing stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, and encouraging timely access to information and healthcare services remain essential for improving public health outcomes on the island.
The organization noted that effective education and prevention campaigns can contribute to earlier detection, better health outcomes, and a healthier society overall.
An important topic discussed during the meeting was whether available health information is effectively reaching the intended target groups.
According to CuraPlus, ensuring that reliable health information and prevention messages reach the people who need them most remains a major challenge. The organization stressed that reaching different groups within society requires continuous attention and broad cooperation.
The discussions also addressed possible public health risks and concerns about the apparent lack of a clear prostitution policy on Curaçao. Participants emphasized that such issues require ongoing attention from both healthcare and prevention perspectives.
Governor De Kort expressed appreciation for the initiatives presented by CuraPlus and acknowledged the foundation’s contribution to the health and well-being of the Curaçao community.
According to the Governor’s Office, De Kort emphasized the importance of organizations dedicated to prevention, healthcare, and public awareness, and voiced support for efforts aimed at promoting a healthy and well-informed society.
