WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao welcomed the MS Queen Anne, a cruise ship operated by Cunard Line, during its first-ever visit to the Port of Willemstad on April 15, 2026.
The vessel, which entered service in 2024, is a modern cruise ship with a capacity of around 3,000 passengers. Its arrival formed part of a 116-day world cruise themed “Easter,” which began on January 6 and is scheduled to conclude on May 2.

The stop in Curaçao is one of many international ports included in the ship’s global itinerary, further strengthening the island’s connectivity within worldwide cruise routes.
To mark the maiden call, a traditional plaque exchange ceremony was held on board. Representatives from the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Maduro Shipping as local agent, Customs, Immigration, and Curoil participated, alongside the ship’s captain.
The Queen Anne is commanded by Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge, who is recognized as the first female captain within Cunard’s fleet and the broader Carnival Corporation. Her leadership reflects ongoing progress in diversity within the maritime sector.
Local authorities highlighted the economic impact of the visit, noting that cruise passengers and crew contribute to spending across the island, while also supporting a range of port and tourism-related services.
The arrival of the Queen Anne underscores Curaçao’s role as a key destination in global cruise tourism, bringing both economic benefits and increased international visibility to the island.
