WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Volunteer Corps (VKC) has entered a new chapter in its history following the official transfer of command from Lieutenant Colonel Roger Gibbes to Lieutenant Colonel Ademar Doran during a ceremony held on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas attended the ceremony and expressed his deep appreciation for Gibbes, recognizing his more than 51 years of dedication, leadership, and service to Curaçao.

During his address, Pisas praised the outgoing commander for his longstanding commitment to the organization and the country, emphasizing that his contributions will remain an important part of the VKC's history.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Doran on assuming command and wished him success and wisdom as he takes on his new responsibilities.

The leadership transition comes as the Curaçao Volunteer Corps prepares for an important milestone: its 100th anniversary in 2029. Doran will lead the organization during the years approaching this historic celebration.

Pisas also extended special appreciation to the corps' volunteers and their families, acknowledging their continued dedication and contributions to the safety and security of Curaçao.

The ceremony marked both the conclusion of a long period of service under Gibbes and the beginning of a new phase under Doran's leadership.

The Prime Minister concluded by thanking Gibbes for his decades of service and wishing Doran success as the new commander of the Curaçao Volunteer Corps.
