WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Urban Search and Rescue (CUSAR) team has arrived in La Guaira, Venezuela, where it has begun operations in the area devastated by the recent earthquakes.
The deployment marks Curaçao's direct contribution to the international humanitarian response following one of the deadliest natural disasters to strike neighboring Venezuela in recent years.

The CUSAR team traveled to the affected region equipped to assist with search-and-rescue operations and to support local emergency services as they continue efforts to locate survivors and aid affected communities.
La Guaira is among the areas hardest hit by the earthquakes, with rescue teams from Venezuela and several other countries working around the clock amid damaged infrastructure and widespread destruction.
The arrival of the Curaçao team is part of a broader humanitarian effort involving governments, military units and relief organizations from across the region. In recent days, the Dutch Caribbean has mobilized significant resources to support Venezuela, including the deployment of the Royal Netherlands Navy vessel HNLMS Groningen with emergency supplies, humanitarian flights transporting stranded passengers and relief cargo, and assistance from the Curaçao Red Cross and other organizations.
CUSAR's deployment highlights the close ties between Curaçao and Venezuela and underscores the island's commitment to providing humanitarian assistance during times of regional crisis.
The rescue team is expected to work alongside Venezuelan authorities and international responders in the coming days as search-and-rescue operations continue in the earthquake-stricken region.
