Local, | By Press release July 2, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has inaugurated its own version of a Walk of Fame, celebrating some of the island's most influential artists and cultural figures with the opening of the Paseo Artístiko Nashonal (National Artistic Promenade) in Otrobanda.

The official inauguration took place on Wednesday along the Otrobanda waterfront, where the first group of honorees received commemorative stars embedded in the promenade.

Among those honored were acclaimed actress Rina Penso, singer Mafalda Minguel, musician Rignald Recordino, visual artist Jean Girigorie, and poet and translator Lucille Berry-Haseth, all recognized for their significant contributions to Curaçao's cultural heritage.

The ceremony was attended by several government ministers and members of Parliament, underscoring the importance of the initiative as a tribute to the island's artistic community.

According to the organizers, the Paseo Artístiko Nashonal was created to increase public recognition of Curaçao's cultural ambassadors, honor their achievements, and preserve their legacy for future generations.

The new landmark is also intended to serve as an educational and cultural attraction, giving both residents and visitors an opportunity to learn about the history and accomplishments of local artists, performers, writers and cultural organizations that have helped shape Curaçao's identity.

By establishing a permanent tribute to its creative pioneers, Curaçao joins other destinations around the world that recognize outstanding achievements in the arts through public "Walk of Fame" style installations, while showcasing the island's rich cultural heritage to locals and tourists alike.
