WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government intends to continue increasing its structural subsidy to the Curaçao Tourist Board by XCG 2 million each year, with CTB funding projected to reach XCG 59 million by 2030.
The commitment is included in the 2027 Budget Memorandum as part of the government’s multi-year economic development strategy.
According to the document, the Ministry of Economic Development’s budget increases by approximately XCG 2 million compared with 2026 specifically because of the annual increase in the structural CTB subsidy.
The continued increase reflects the government’s expectation that tourism will remain one of Curaçao’s principal economic engines.
At the same time, the government wants more detailed information about the sector’s actual contribution to the economy.
During the 2027–2030 period, Curaçao plans to further develop a Tourism Satellite Account under the direction of the Central Bureau of Statistics. The system is intended to provide better measurements of tourism’s contribution to employment, economic growth and added value.
The government will also continue developing its Turistika tourism intelligence model and publish an Economic Outlook in 2027.
The increasing CTB subsidy comes as the government simultaneously seeks to diversify the economy into sectors such as maritime services, international education, financial services, ICT, renewable energy, agriculture and the blue economy.
