WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government has approved participation in a new protocol aimed at strengthening the administrative approach against organized and undermining crime within the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom.

The Council of Ministers approved the content of the “Protocol for the Administrative Approach to Organized and Undermining Crime in the Caribbean Countries of the Kingdom” and authorized the Minister of Justice to sign the agreement on behalf of Curaçao.

A draft national decree will now be submitted to the Governor for signature.

The protocol is intended to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands in tackling criminal networks that undermine public institutions, the economy and society.

The administrative approach focuses not only on criminal investigations but also on preventing criminal organizations from using legal structures, businesses and government systems for illegal activities.
