WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao will host a human rights conference on Tuesday, October 6, as part of a series of meetings being organized on Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten to increase knowledge about human rights protections and European monitoring mechanisms.
The conferences are intended to provide participants with a better understanding of the human rights monitoring mechanisms of the Council of Europe and to make existing human rights instruments more accessible to professionals and the wider public.
The program will include discussions, contributions from experts and interactive sessions designed to encourage participants to engage directly with human rights issues and the mechanisms available to protect those rights.
On Curaçao, the conference will take place at the University of Curaçao from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, October 6.
Participation is free and the event is open to anyone interested in the subject. Organizers are particularly inviting students, legal professionals, civil servants and representatives of civil society organizations to attend.
Similar conferences will also be held on Aruba and Sint Maarten as part of the broader initiative to strengthen knowledge about human rights across the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
