Local, The Netherlands, | By Correspondent August 18, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Dutch military veterans living in Curaçao will be honored during a special Veterans Day ceremony at Marine Base Parera on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The event will recognize servicemen and women who were deployed during wars and international peacekeeping missions.

Commander of the Naval Forces in the Caribbean, Commodore Walter Hansen, is organizing the event together with the Veterans Association Curaçao.

The Veterans Day program will take place at Marine Base Parera from 9:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The ceremony is intended to express recognition and appreciation for Dutch military personnel who served under wartime conditions or participated in peacekeeping missions.

Veterans who are still on active duty are required to attend in uniform 7/GVT. Veterans who are no longer in active service may attend in appropriate civilian clothing or in the uniform of their veterans association.

Veterans wishing to participate must register no later than Sunday, September 6, by sending an email with their personal information to veteranenverenigingcuracao1@gmail.com.

Following registration, participants will receive confirmation by email. This confirmation will also serve as the veteran's official invitation and admission pass to Marine Base Parera for the September 9 event.

Organizers stressed that access to Marine Base Parera and participation in Veterans Day will not be possible without a valid invitation.

The event is being organized by the Commander of the Naval Forces in the Caribbean in cooperation with the Veterans Association Curaçao, with particular attention this year to veterans who currently reside on the island.
